From future planning to accounts payable, our office staff take care of the customer relationship side of our business. These are the people who take your wholesale orders, come up with marketing plans, and get that paperwork done.

President

Ken sets our company vision, leads our big picture initiatives, and looks into future market demands. By liaising with accountants, lawyers, and bankers, he ensures that all aspects of FVSP are running smoothly. Through his involvement with several industry boards that work with government, Ken bridges the gap between FVSP and the broader issues impacting the agriculture sector. He enjoys the variety and fast-paced environment of working in the agriculture industry, and has owned and operated a number of businesses in farming and construction over the years. Ken and his wife Iris co-own the business, and enjoy cooking specialty poultry dishes together. He enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and taking care of old cars. Joe Falk

General Manager

Working in various roles since 1998, Joe is responsible for the sales, marketing, processing, and the production and procurement aspects of our business. Along with his father Ken, he sets the vision and future plans of the company. With his wealth of knowledge in raising specialty poultry, he sits on the Specialty Markets Advisory Committee for the BC Chicken Marketing Board. When he is not at FVSP, Joe owns and manages an organic chicken egg layer farm, Windy River Farms Ltd, as well an indoor boat and RV storage business. Along with his wife and three kids, Joe loves hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors. He always finds time for backyard BBQs, bonfires, and restoring motorbikes. Favourite FVSP Meal: Duck Confit
Janice Trottier

Office Manager

Since 2016, Janice has been a terrific asset in dealing with finance and administration. She supports our office staff by being a wellspring of information – she always has an informed, expert answer to our questions. She is fun to work with, and contributes to the welcoming atmosphere in our office. Originally from Vancouver Island, and now calling Abbotsford home, Janice loves the great outdoors. We often see kayaks strapped to her car for a weekend of camping, hiking, and paddling. Favourite FVSP meal: Duck Confit
Jenna Brown

Jenna oversees recruitment, payroll, benefits, and much more. She works hard at solving issues and keeping our employees happy and engaged. Jenna started in 2015 as our temporary HACCP while pregnant with her second child. Once her maternity leave was over a position had opened up in HR, which worked perfect as she transitioned into the new position. She is proud to be part of our FVSP team and enjoys the people she works with everyday. In her spare time she loves to go on adventures with her family and watch scary movies! Favourite FVSP product is between duck chili or soy braised duck.
Nikki Stewart

Inventory Control & Logistics

Nikki is our details person who ensures everyone gets their poultry on time, and at the right place. From taking orders and managing our processed inventory in our warehouses, to stock code system development and supervising our driver team, Nikki makes sure everything gets where it needs to be. Since 2013, she has considered FVSP her “second home” where staff truly care about each other. She enjoys spending time with her teenage son, and making gorgeous fiber art pieces. Brandon Yanciw

Born and raised in Chilliwack, Brandon started working here in 2018. He arranges and maintains a reliable supply of live poultry 6-12 months out. Fun fact, before he worked here, he did biochemistry research for food/pharma manufacturing. What he likes most about working here is the friendly people, great views, and the fresh air! In his spare time, Brandon likes to read, play board games, or relax by a body of water. Favourite FVSP product: Roasted whole duck.

Melissa moved from Edmonton to Chilliwack only a few years before she started here in March 2022. She works on managing our budgets and profitability. The thing she loves most about this laid back job, is the friendly people and good work/life balance. Melissa loves to travel and has been to many places around the world. Born in Winnipeg, now living in Chilliwack, Darren worked in media sales, before joining us in May 2022. His job includes serving our wholesale customers of FVSP and bringing our products to everyone he meets! He loves the team atmosphere, and is a big fan of our duck pepperoni. Darren has been a great member of our team, always friendly and kind to anyone he meets. When he's not working, he likes to spend time with his family and cheering on the Winnipeg Jets. If it has to do with technology, Gord is in charge. He ensures our computers and network devices are in top form, while collecting data on our flocks and developing programs to accommodate all our IT needs. As a member of the Falk family, it’s hard to say exactly when he started here! Gord moonlights as an audio and lighting technician for live events, and is passionate about music concerts. He is a true problem-solver, and enjoys fixing things so they work better than before. Favourite FVSP meal: Duck Confit

Teresa started as our health and safety person in summer of 2020. She works hard at keeping our staff safe, by being a level 2 first aid attendant, WorkSafe BC company representative and dealing with all the health and safety documents. She loves being able to teach people about safety and loves that our farm is close to her home! In her past jobs she has run a daycare, owned a floral company, and worked at a greenhouse. In her spare time she loves to garden, spend time with her animals, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Favourite FVSP products are duck pepperoni and our duck burgers!
Madelaine Johnsrude

Since 2017, Madelaine has been helping customers and ordering product at The Farm Store. In 2021 she moved into the office and helps with wholesale orders, marketing, event planning, and managing our online store. She wears many different hats! In her free time, she goes for walks with her husband, plays soccer, and runs her own houseplant delivery service, Tiny Plant Box. Favourite FVSP product: Duck Farmer Sausage

Josh Falk

Operations Manager

As head of operations, Josh manages the sourcing and purchasing of major farming and plant equipment, as well as providing oversight to ensure the farms are running smoothly. He oversees our improvement projects, and analyzes what equipment would be best for every job. With a large inventory of tools and parts, Josh and his team maintain and fix what we have, while researching what tools would provide more efficient systems. Josh says that the best maintenance department is one you never notice because everything always works. Outside of work, Josh enjoys the great outdoors through hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids. Favourite FVSP Meal: Roast Goose

Lawrence first started in our plant in 2010, and was quickly moved into maintenance department when we discovered his talent for fixing things. He enjoys the diversity of his job – every day he’s dealing with different machines, solving unique problems, and being our “jack of all trades.” Before coming to Canada, he was an Electrical Inspector for 15 years. He enjoys spending time with family and going fishing. Favourite FVSP meal: Duck cooked with coconut milk, ginger, hot red pepper, lemon, onion, garlic, and soy sauce, matched with a cold beer.

Since 1998, Mike has been the backbone in making our duck and Loong Kong chicken barns run smoothly. Managing his team of five farmhands, Mike’s primary objective is keeping the birds happy – from monitoring temperature, water use, and feed, to spreading sawdust and cleaning out barns. He does everything from fixing equipment to gathering data in real time on his phone. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with family, going 4x4ing in his Jeep, and tinkering with his many aquariums. Favourite FVSP product: Duck Pepperoni
Shawna Bergen

Shawna Bergen

Egg Processing Manager

Shawna says she never tires of taking care of ducklings, which is great because she has been with us since 1985. She oversees and actively works in duck egg hatching and fresh table egg production, and evaluates the quality of our eggs. Every other Thursday, she delivers a fresh batch of ducklings to their new pen in our barn. In her down time, she makes homemade beer and wine, and spends time with grandkids and her two cats, Luke and Leia (she’s a bit of a Star Wars fan!). Favourite FVSP meal: chicken breast coated in crushed pork rinds.

Plant

Our most highly-staffed area of our business is our processing plant. We are a BC certified plant, to provide the entire province with healthy duck, goose, RWA chicken, squab, and Loong Kong chicken.

Jordie oversees everything related to the processing and packaging of our products. From developing and testing new products to sanitation and food safety, Jordie wears many hats and has to change them often to keep things moving. Since 2009, he has enjoyed the fast-paced environment working with great people. In his downtime, he enjoys playing guitar, tinkering with cars, and spending time with his wife (our HR Manager) and their kids. Favourite FVSP meal: Smoked Duck Breast
Ghaem S. Zadeh

Ghaem S. Zadeh

HACCP Coordinator

Since 2019, Ghaem has been taking care of food safety by training employees, monitoring our staff health, assessing and verifying our product safety, and microbiological testing. He ensures safe practices with our sanitation team, evaluates customer feedback, and maintains our HACCP program. Along with company management, Ghaem is committed and open to the lastest up-to-date research in food safety methods. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, camping, and rafting, then coming home to try new recipes. Favourite FVSP product: Ground Duck for Burgers

If you’ve been to our store, chances are you’ve met Caroline. She’s our friendly customer service expert, who assists with ordering in product, doing paperwork, and making sure our shelves are stocked. Before working here, she was a pork producer and stay-at-home mom. When she’s not at work, she loves baking, watching Canucks games, and spending time with her husband and adult children. Christie is the amazing cook behind our delicious ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat-up dinners – you can find these meals in the Farm Store freezer. She develops and cooks recipes using our farm-fresh poultry for customers and staff, all from scratch. Since she started in 2017, Christie has enjoyed the family-oriented atmosphere, joking with coworkers, and singing along to ‘80s songs while she cooks. She enjoys playing softball, and spending time with her three teenagers. Favourite FVSP meal: Duck Confit (and she’s the best at making it)
