Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use this website.
Last updated: July 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry ("FVSP", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with our website at www.fvsp.ca (the "Site"). This is an informational, brochure-style website. It has no online store, no shopping cart or checkout, no user accounts, and does not process orders or payments online.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of personal information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Applicable Law
FVSP is based in British Columbia, Canada. We handle personal information in accordance with the BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What This Policy Covers
This policy covers personal information we collect through the Site and through inquiries you send us by email or phone in response to the Site. "Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual, such as your name, email address, or phone number.
This policy does not cover third-party websites we may link to. If you follow a link to a site we do not operate, please review that site's own privacy policy.
Personal Information We Collect
Because this is a brochure site, we collect very little personal information. Specifically:
- Information you provide to us. If you contact us through the form on the Site, or by emailing or calling one of the addresses and numbers we publish, we collect the details you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message (for example, a wholesale, farm store, careers, or general inquiry). You control what you send us; you can choose not to include certain details, though that may limit our ability to respond.
- Analytics information. Where analytics are enabled on the Site, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. This may include your approximate location, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the Site. We run Google Analytics with Consent Mode: if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and Google receives only limited, cookieless signals. Your IP address is handled by Google in accordance with their settings and is not used by us to identify you.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical information — such as IP addresses, request timestamps, pages requested, and error messages — for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the Site running reliably.
We do not collect order information, billing or shipping addresses, payment details, account credentials, or shopping history, because the Site does not offer any of those features.
Cookies & Local Storage
The Site itself sets no cookies. Where analytics are enabled, we use a small number of cookies and similar browser-storage entries to remember your choices — including an analytics consent record (stored in your browser) that records whether you have accepted or declined analytics tracking, so we can honour your choice and avoid asking you on every visit.
Any analytics cookies set by Google Analytics are only placed in accordance with your consent selection. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site behave.
Embedded Content & Fonts
The Site loads web fonts (Google Fonts, including the Material Icons set) on every page, and the home page includes a video embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. When your browser fetches these resources, your IP address and standard browser information are transmitted to Google and handled under Google's privacy policy. These requests are part of how the pages render and are not controlled by the Site's analytics consent settings. The store-locator map on our Where to Buy page loads map imagery from OpenStreetMap, which similarly receives standard request data when tiles load.
Your Location (Store Locator)
The Where to Buy page can use your device's location — with your browser's permission — to sort nearby stores by distance. This happens entirely in your browser: your location is never transmitted to us, stored, or shared. You can decline or revoke the permission in your browser at any time and browse the store list by community instead.
How We Use Your Information
We use the limited personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about the reason you contacted us;
- Understand how the Site is used, so we can improve its content and performance (analytics);
- Maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Site; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect our rights where necessary.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.
How We Share It
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Google Analytics. Where analytics are enabled, analytics data is processed by Google as our service provider, subject to your consent choices and Google's own terms and privacy policies.
- Embedded content and fonts. Loading web fonts and embedded video transmits technical data (such as your IP address) to the third parties that serve them — see "Embedded Content & Fonts" above.
- Service providers. Our website host and email providers process technical and inquiry data on our behalf so we can operate the Site and respond to you.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required to comply with applicable law, a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of FVSP or others.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers — including Google Analytics, where enabled — may store or process information on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States. Where information is handled outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure our service providers protect personal information consistent with this policy and applicable Canadian privacy law.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected — for example, to respond to and follow up on your inquiry — or as required to meet legal, security, or record-keeping obligations. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured in Google Analytics. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information through unsecured channels such as email.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used or disclosed;
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information (see below); and
- Ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the timelines required by applicable law.
Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw your consent to our use of analytics at any time by changing your choice in the Site's consent controls (where analytics are enabled) or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. You can also ask us to stop using or to delete personal information you have sent us, subject to legal and reasonable limitations. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide certain information or respond to you.
Children
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer so we can delete it.
